Project Peru
MUX MediaLab is glad to be a part of the important work behind the awesome “Project Peru”. We helped out a bit with the logo, and designed a new web site for them. It consist of some history, how people can support this great project, a blog and a picture gallery. We hope this website contributes to even more income for the children of Peru.
“Project Peru” was founded 1992. It’s a non profit organization that has started an orphanage and a school in Peru. The orphanage was started when Dag Petter Svendsen, who had previously worked for the Consulate General in Lima, had acquired the necessary financial funds he needed in the autumn of 1992. Construction of the orphanage started in spring 1993, using a large volunteer effort. Project Peru had a favorable agreement with local landowners, and was given a property just outside of Chiclayo, a city on the northern coast of Peru.
There was set up five small houses that the children and their aunts to live in. In addition, it built an administration building with office, kitchen, lean inventories, undervisningssal and guest rooms, and a barn. The construction took about a year, and in August 1994 everything was ready to accept the first four children. The secondary schools in Larvik (Norway) has been the largest source of income to run the orphanage and school. From the autumn of 2005, Re high school in Tønsberg (Norway) chosen to be a part of Operation Peru, and has been a very important contributor.
